The heart of the viscometer uses simple tuning fork technology.

The MICRO VIBRATING elements are completely immersed in the ink flow and their resonance is maintained electronically.

Using the integrated computer, the viscometer – much like a musical instrument would - emits sound waves in the ink.
A specialized detection circuit then analyzes the changes in these waves caused by the tiniest of variations in the ink viscosity.

Using proprietary algorithms these variations are translated into numerical data that can be displayed in Centipoises or Seconds.

IIS viscometers are designed to work in a multi-channel environment with an InkSpec touch screen Console

               
 

 

THE COMPLETE SYSTEM

Installed between the Ink pump and printing deck, the IIS viscometer requires NO MOVING PARTS to monitor and control the ink viscosity throughout the print job. The actual viscosity is detected in real time and displayed on the multi-channel InkSpec touch screen Console.

The actual and desired viscosity values are compared and, when necessary, the InkSpec triggers a control valve that injects a predet ermined amount of adjuster fluid (solvent or amine solution) to maintain proper viscosity. Each injection is followed by a dwell it me of several seconds to ensure thorough mixing of the fluid adjuster, thus avoiding over-corrections and flooding of the ink pail.

Even while this process is occurr ing the sensor continues to monitor the ink viscosity and when the dwell period has lapsed the IIS viscometer is ready to apply more corrections as needed.
Not withstanding the safety of the Injection / Dwell cycle, an injection time safeguard is also built in to avoid extremely large one-time injections.
