SMARTFOLD CLASSIC X2 SERIES of Folder-Gluer for folding cartons

 

The SMARTFOLD CLASSIC X2 Folder Gluer is specially designed and ruggedly built for the folding gluing needs of the most demanding packaging companies, commercial printers and trade finishers for short to long run lengths and covering a wide range of industries. It is easy to setup and operate, and comes with state of the art technology, features and electronics. The CLASSIC's folder-gluer standard version includes the accessories for straight line and crash lock bottom boxes and is flexible and easy to operate.

Standard Features include: Motorization for all Carriers, Hand Held Radio Operator controller, Carton Blank Aligner and Pre-fold sections, as well as Independently servo controlled feeder, main gluer, trombone, and compression. The SL folder gluer model includes an independent high speed precision servo driven back fold system which is very easy to setup for the operators, as well as a Belted 6 corner folding device.

Additional options include: Memory Job recall for motorized carriers, Squaring devices in the trombone and compression, blank ejection system in the trombone section, and more.

1. Feeder section

  • Driven independently by servo motor.
  • Friction feeder with 8 untimed feeding belts, 30 mm width.
  • Electronic pile vibrator.
  • Lateral feed gates fully adjustable to the width of the blank.
  • Three adjustable front feed knives with carton spacing carriers (bogies).

2. Side register section

  • Independent section with an unparallel lower carrier that guides the box to a parallel handrail that allows a perfect blank alignment.

3. Pre-folding section

  • Left hand glue flap pre-folder up to 180º.
  • Third crease line pre-folder up to 135º.
  • 1st and 3rd crease openers.
  • Three upper and lower carriers along full section.

4. Crash lock bottom section #1

  • Complete set of folding hooks and helixes to fold the front flaps of the blank smooth and accurately.
  • Set of accessories for “B” lock bottom.
  • Available in 1500mm and 1700mm lengths.
  • Optional backfolding axis.

5. Crash lock bottom multi-function section

  • Available in 1500mm and 1700mm lengths.
  • 3 sets of upper and lower transfer carriers along the section.
  • Complete set of folding hooks and helixes to fold the front flaps of the blank smooth and accurately.
  • Set of accessories for “B” lock bottom.
  • Integrated ¨bump & turn¨ allows to turn cartons 90º and its alignment.
  • Driven upper outer folding belts on both operator and drive sides.
  • Optional backfolding axis.

  • One lower (left side) gluing tank.
  • Easy to remove and clean.
  • Standard 3 & 5 mm width glue disc.
  • Optional electronic upper gluing system by guns, upon request.

  • Smooth and accurate folding of 2nd and 4th crease.
  • Outer folding belts adjustable up to 180º with variable speed.
  • Two upper & two lower carriers with 25 mm lower and 30 mm outer belts.
  • Width-wise adjustable heavy-duty compression rollers (optional).

8. Trombone section

  • Driven independently by servo motor.
  • Pneumatic box ejector, for quality control without interrupting the flow of boxes
  • Upper and lower drive mechanism for length adjustment.
  • Equipped with automatic belt tension-adjusting system.
  • Continuous and automatic box collection mechanism that ensures a neat transfer to the Press section, guaranteeing a well aligned flow.
  • Electronic counter and ¨Kicker¨ for marking batches.
  • Squaring device for crashlock bottom boxes.

 

Trombone section

8.1. Trombone crushing rollers (Optional)

  • Two (2) independently adjustable crushing rollers that can be positioned independently from the final fold carriers for precise positioning on the score as needed by the operator and carton design.
  • Driven by the trombone SmartServo system.
  • Independent pressure adjustment.

9. Press section

  • Driven independently by dual servo motors.
  • Manual and Automatic speed variation in coordination with a photocell.
  • Upper section moves back and forward, allowing for different box length.
  • 5.5 meters total length with 3.1 meters effective pressure length.
  • Pneumatic pressure adjustment to avoid marks.

10. 4 & 6 corner device (Included on SL model)

  • Motorized and untimed electronic back folding system with intelligent servo motor technology. It allows accurate folding of all back flaps by mean of hooks installed in two independent shafts controlled electronically

11. SmartTurn with left and right side register re-alignment device (Optional)

  • Blank rotating/turning section of 1.9 meters.
  • Controlled by an independent SmartServo 4 drive system.
  • Blank rotation controlled by roller speed control differential and adjustable vacuum volume.
  • Left and right side re-alignment section following the SmartTurn for precision alignment of the blank into the next section of 1.6 meters long.

12. SmartFeed Pre-feeder device (Optional)

  • Lateral feed gates fully adjustable to the width of the blank.
  • Two adjustable front feed knives with dual spring loaded feed rollers.
  • Driven by adjustable variable drive system.
  • Blank height in the folder gluer feeder section controlled by adjustable photocell.
  • Two pneumatically activated back carton pile jogger/spankers for uniform pile integrity in the folder gluer feeder section.
  • On wheels for easy positioning or removal.
  • Can also be used on most folder gluers as a retrofit.

13. Small conveyor post press (Optional)

  • Small motorized 2 meter long belted conveyor after the press section.
  • Adjustable back guide.
  • Driven by adjustable variable drive system regulated with the folder gluer press section to change the shingle length for packing personnel.
  • Quick electrical disconnect from the folder gluer for easy positioning and removal.
